🧐Feeling uncertain in the New Year: moving forward even when you're not sure of your direction.

Hi Reader,

Happy New Year 2026! We had a great start to this year, hosting many of our friends for a fun celebration on New Year's Eve - nearly 50 people filled our home!

But now that the excitement is gone, I've found it difficult to settle into routine again. The blank pages of my shiny new planner stubbornly refuse to fill themselves, waiting for me to write down my goals, dreams and vision for the upcoming year. Clarity feels hard to find.

In the last few years I've learned not to try to rush this process. As much as my type-A eldest daughter perfectionist tendencies want to get all my goals and plans neatly inked, that doesn't actually help me over the long term.

Instead, I'm leaning into the habits and practices that fill me up and refresh my passion. For me, that's Bible reading, prayer, and walking (preferably outdoors, but in our Oregon winter the treadmill is often the best option).

God meets me in these quiet moments, if I slow down long enough to listen.

What about you? Have you ever struggled with knowing what direction to move in? I'd love to hear about it - drop me a line at dinkumtribe@gmail.com.

The Best ADHD Planners (And Why the Right One Actually Matters)

If you’ve ever bought a planner full of hope—only to abandon it weeks later—you’re not alone.

Living with ADHD means conventional planners often work against you, not for you. Executive dysfunction, time blindness, and emotional overwhelm make “simple planning” anything but simple.

In this post, Brian shares what actually matters when choosing an ADHD-friendly planner. He also walks through the planners we’ve personally used, loved, and struggled with—both on paper and digitally.

You’ll find:

  • What ADHD brains really need from a planner
  • Why no planner is a silver bullet (and what helps instead)
  • Honest reviews of popular planners like Legend, Panda, and Franklin Covey
  • Why academic planners fall short without adult coaching
  • Digital and paper options for different seasons of life

This isn’t about being more disciplined. It’s about finding tools that support how ADHD brains truly work.

If you or your child live with ADHD, this guide may save you money, frustration, and a lot of guilt.
